I got this classic in 06/2007 from a dealer in NY. He bought it from the original owner, who lives in South Carolina. So I am officially the second owner! The car is a southern vehicle and never saw salt. Neither underbody nor the rest of the car has any rust. The dash board and leather inside is clean and has no cracks. Mint condition.
Back in 1979, the Collector Series was Lincoln's flagship model, and is the most sought after 1979 Lincoln model on todays market. For the late 1970's, the Mark V was far ahead of its time with features such as four-wheel disc brakes, a digital radio tuner or 'Miles to Empty' read out, to name a few.
Since this vehicle is a Cartier edition, it is fully loaded: everything is powered and working as it should *). Power windows/vent windows, power lock, 6-way power seats, power antenna, power moonroof, cruise control, ... The car has the digital AM/FM tuner with a working 8-track. The climate controled AC is R134a retrofitted and blows ice cold. The ride is perfectly smooth at any speed (a compression test of each cylinder proofed that the pressure was at the high end, also very surprising for myself). The engine has no starting problems or any other issues you might encounter with cars this age.
This car is a head turner. I had guys giving thumbs up passing by on the freeway, running after me or rolling down the window just to just let me know what a cool car I have...
In July '09 I shipped the car from Detroit to Stuttgart /Germany and it is for sale now! Please contact me in case you might have any questions.
*) the small print: the Cartier clock runs but got stuck
